The history of "Gasthaus zur Sonne"
The guesthouse "Zur Sonne" is a patrician house from the 16th century.
We find the first documentary evidence in 1655, when the count palatine and duke of Bavaria with his wife and the royal family resided in the "golden sun" for lunch.
In 1890 Karl Seyringer acquired the etched taverns around 1600 marks
and brandy justice for the building at Weinmarkt 11.
In the same year, the city erected a war memorial on the forecourt of the guesthouse,
the so-called wine market, which commemorated the city's fallen sons.
Due to the shortage of raw materials in World War II, it was decided on January 20,
1941 to terminate it (with the note: "Metal donation by the German people").
The term "wine market" has become established over the years,
as there used to be an extensive wine trade in the "Zur Sonne" inn and in the two adjacent buildings.
The sun today After many years of "Sleeping Beauty" and extensive renovation work, the listed "Gasthaus zur Sonne" has shone in new splendor since it reopened on September 21, 2012.
